前回のおさらい
こんにちは、surftripworldです。
語学留学先のフィリピン・バギオから週末を利用してサンファンでサーフィンする計画。
日本への一時帰国をはさみ、2週間ぶりにサンファンへ週末サーフトリップしました。
今日はいよいよフィリピン最終日。再びラ・ウニオンを訪れ、サーフィンします。

いつものようにバス停へ
金曜日。
授業も終わり、移動日という位置付けの日。
いつもより早めに寮を出て、朝5時半にタクシーを拾います。
計画通り、6時出発のPALTASバスに乗ることが出来ました。
47. Carille, the Philippines (12.18)
The final surf in the Philippines.
Friday, 18th
I left my academy and took a taxi at 5:30, faster than usual.
As I planned, I could catch the 6am Partas bus.
トラブル発生
しかしバスの出発から10分後。
突然バスが停車。
何が起きたのか分かりませんが、どうやらバスの機械トラブルのようです。
But after 10 minutes from departure, suddenly the bus stopped… I don’t know what was going on,but seemed to have some mechanic trouble.
別のローカルバスを選択していればトラブル無くサンファンにたどり着けたのにとめっちゃ後悔。。
I was so regretted because I had another option, to take another local bus. If I took that, I would be able to trip without any trouble…
ただ、もちろん故障がはじめから予見できたわけではありません。
最適な選択の結果故障にあったのだから仕方ない。
幸い、40分ほどでバスは動き出しました。
Anyway after 40 minutes, the bus started to move. It was luck of me.
ラ・ウニオン州サンファンへ
サンファン到着は9時半ごろ。
いつものビーチフロントレストランへ向かいます。
すでに店主とは顔なじみになり、何も言わなくてもいつものメニューが出てきました。
残念ながら、ビーチもモナリザもほぼクローズアウト。
Arrived at Sun Juan at around 9:30, and had a breakfast at the restaurant in front of the beach as usual.
The master and I already became acquaintances, so he was all right to serve my breakfast even without order.
The Beach and Mona Lisa point were almost close out.
その後チューさんのゲストハウスへ行きボードを受け取ります。
初のCarrille（カーリール）へ
チューさんと日本人サーファーはCarrille（カーリール）に向かうというということなので、トライシクルをシェアする形で一緒に向かうことにしました。
けっこう渋滞しており、カーリールまでは15分ほどかかりました。
Then I went to Mr. Chu’s house to get my surfboard.
He and Japanese surfer were gotto go to Carille, so I was taken part in them and shared he tricycle.
The traffic was bad and we arrived there in 15 minutes.
残念ながらサイズは昨日よりダウンしているとのこと。
でも、サンファンもモナリザもクローズしている今、他に選択肢はありません。
入水。
Unfortunately the wave sizes were down from yesterday.
But I had no choice, so just got wet.
カーリールの波は？
サイズはコシハラ程度でしょうか。
20人ほど入っており、ちょっと混んでいると感じます。
ライトオンリーのリーフブレイク。
何本か長く乗れる波を捉えることが出来ました。
乗りやすくメローな感じで好きな波です。
The waves were waist to stomach high. There were about 20 surfers, so I felt as a bit crowded.
Reef break only for right. Sometimes I could get the good waves, long lasting ones.
Easy and mellow, I like the waves.
2時間ほどで上がりました。
小屋からは海を見つめるキリスト像が見えます。
これがとても印象的で、この国がキリスト教国であることを思い出させます。
After 2 hrs surf, I got off the water.
There is a statue of Jesus on the beach, looking at the shore side. It’s really impressive, and reminds me here is the Christian country.
トライシクルと交渉しサンファンへ
トライシクルと交渉。はじめの100ペソから80ペソまで値切って交渉成立です。
I negotiated with tricycle driver and came to agreement on 80php. (His first offer was 100php.)
サンファンのビーチに戻り、昼食をとりながら波をチェックしましたが、引き続きクローズアウトの模様。
カーリールで2ラウンド目を、とも思ったものの波も良く無さそうなので、フィリピンでのサーフィンを終了することにしました。
まあ実際、3本空けたサンミゲルが効いたのもありますが。
After coming back to San Juan beach, I took a lunch with checking the waves, but it seemed to be still close out.
I wondered I would go to my 2nd round at carille, but waves were not good so I decided to finish my surf today. Actually 3 bottles of San Miguel made me lazy already.
バギオへ戻る
チューさんのゲストハウスへ立ち寄り、サーフボードを2ヶ月ほど預かってもらうよう交渉した後に、ジープニーでサンフェルナンドへ。
PALTASのバスは15時ごろに出発したものの、バギオでの渋滞がひどく、3時間ほどかかりました。
I stopped by Mr. Chu’s house to ask him to keep my surfboard for 2 months more, then went to San Fernando by Jeepney.
The Partas bus departed around 3pm, but the traffic was bad in the Baguio area, so it took more than 3 hours.
1ヶ月半のフィリピン語学留学を終えて日本へ
晩飯後、荷物を詰めて、マニラ空港に向かいます。
フィリピンでの長い旅が終わろうとしています。
ほっとした気持ちと寂しさが入り交じる不思議な気分です。
6週間の語学留学はとても良い経験でした。
6週間の留学なんて意味あるの？という人もいますが、これは本当に有意義だったと断言できます。
日本に帰ってからも英語の勉強を続けよう、そしてまたフィリピンを訪ねよう。
そう思いながら帰国しました。
Eat some dinner and packed my baggages, now I took the bus to Manila airport.
My long trip to the Philippines is now about to finish. Now I have a bit mixed feelings, half relieved and half sentimental.
It was quite good experience for me study English for 6 weeks. Some people said to me, is it really effective to study in the Philippines? Or only six weeks are meaningless to improve my English skill… But now I’m 100% sure it was really meaningful.
Keep on studying even after getting back to Japan.
And I am really looking forward to visit there again.
まとめ
いかがでしたか。
この後、2016年と2017年にサーフトリップで再訪しました。
2016年は完全に外して急遽観光に切り替えたり、2017年もあまり波には恵まれなかったものの、やはりいいところだなと感じました。
英語は帰国後サボってしまいましたが、フィリピン留学で集中的に身につけたことは大きかったです。
再訪の記録や語学留学については後ほど記事を書こうと思います。書きました！
