前回のおさらい
こんにちは、surftripworldです。
語学留学先のフィリピン・バギオから週末を利用してサンファンでサーフィンする計画。
サンファンのビーチで初サーフした先週に続き、今週末も再び。3連休を利用し2泊します。

San Juanへ向かう
また土曜の朝がやってきました。
月曜から金曜は語学学校の寮で英語漬けの生活。
飲酒も外出も禁止され、晩飯後は予習復習を数時間こなして寝るというなかなかな生活です。
朝6時に寮を出発。
先週同様にタクシーでバスターミナルへ向かいます。
The Saturday morning, again. Leave my board at 6am, took a taxi and got to bus station.
しかし、先週乗ったGenesisのバスが見当たりません。
チケットカウンターに並び、サンファン行きのチケットを手に入れます。
118ペソでした。
But there wasn’t a same bus as last week, so I just lined the ticket counter and got the ticket to San Juan, 118php.
バスは7時に出発。
バギオ市内の渋滞が激しかったものの、その後はスムーズでした。
The bus departed around 7am.
There was some bad traffic in Baguio city but after that it took smoothly.
車内では途中で売り子が乗車してきます。
パイ状のものと、バナナチップスを購入。
どちらも想像以上に美味しかったです。
In the bus, I bought some foods.
One was a kind of fried pie, and another was the banana chips. Both were actually holy cow, far from my expectation.
サンファンに到着
9時半にビーチの近くでバスを降りました。
0930am, I dropped off the bus, and it was the place near beach.
その後宿泊予定のBadfish Guesthouseへ。
先週預けた板を受け取ろうとしましたが、オーナーのチューさんの姿が見当たりません。
仕方なく、メモを書き残しビーチに向かいます。
Then went to the Mr. Chu’s house to get my surfboard, but no one was there.
So I just left a memo and walked around the beach.
San Juanの波は？
おお。
明らかに先週より波があります。
ちょうど台風のうねりが入ってきたようです。
The waves were bigger than the one last week, thanks to typhoon.
右奥のリーフ、通称モナリザポイントでは大会が開催されていました。
At the “Mona Lisa”point, a surfing contest was taken place.
再度ゲストハウスに向かうと、アルバイトらしき男性が。
話をしてようやくサーフボードをゲットです。
I called Chu’s house again then his servant got it, so finally I could get my surfboard.
モナリザポイントかビーチか
モナリザポイントで入水しようとすると、ローカルに止められました。大会中のため入れないようです。
First,I tried to get wet at Mona Lisa point,but a local guy called me not to. It was due to the competition.
仕方なくビーチに戻ります。といっても歩いて2分ほど。
そもそもリーフを避けてモナリザポイントへゲットする場合は、ビーチから延々パドルしていくのです。
So I moved to the San Juan beach, it was just 2 min walk.
サンファンビーチでサーフィン
サイズは胸ぐらい。
左への強いカレントが有り終始パドルを強いられましたが、良い波を堪能しました。
The size was around chest, maybe 2 ft or so.
There was so terribly strong current that I had to paddle to the right side all the way, but I enjoyed good goofy waves.
2時間ほどで上がります。
カメラマンに徹する
ちょうど、同じ語学学校の友人が2人到着したところでした。
After 2 hrs surf, I got off and met my friends who came also from Chapis.
昼食後、彼らもサーフィンに挑戦。
初心者の彼らのため、私はカメラマンに徹します。
きっとこれらが彼らの貴重な思い出になると信じて。
After lunch they tried surfing. I got into my role, as a cameraman, took their photos and movies. I’m sure these will be great memories for the guys.
モナリザポイントで初サーフ
3時ごろに2ラウンド目。
ビーチはあまり良くなさそうでしたがとりあえず入ります。
その後、モナリザポイントへパドルで移動。
けっこう遠いです。
これまでの自分の経験上最も長いゲットだったように思います。
My 2nd round started 3pm.
The beach, it seemed difficult to get good waves, of course I tried though.
Then I started paddling to the Mona Lisa point. It was really far, the farthest point where I’ve ever got wetted.
でも、波は良かったです。
基本的にレギュラーで、グーフィーの私にとってはバックサイドですが、それでもいい波でした。
2時間ほど入り、疲れたので上がります。
But there were good waves. Most of them were the right. But they were good waves for me.
After 2hrs surf, I was quite exhausted and get off wet.
宿へ
その後宿へ。
アルバイトくんが、私の宿泊予定を知らなかったようで多少説明が必要でしたが、なんとかチェックインしました。
チューさんのBadfish Guesthouse、とても快適な宿です。
月曜が祝日のため、この週末はここに連泊します。
Then I went to my accommodation, and checked in, though it was an accident that the servant didn’t know that I was the man who would stay there…
Anyway, it was quite comfortable accommodation. I loved it.
This weekend is longer one because the next Monday is the national holiday. I’ll stay here for 2 nights and like to know lots of things.
サンファンで初の夕食
晩飯は近所のレストランSurf shackへ。
この地域で一番良さげな店です。
1時間後には満席になっていました。
Then I went to the restaurant “surf shack”, where seems to be the coolest restaurant around here.
An hour later, all the tables were filled.
入り口にある小屋みたいなとこで照り焼きチキンコンボ的なプレートを買い、ビールと共にいただきました。
ホテルに戻ると、別の日本人ゲストが到着していました。
ちょうど現地のビール RED HORSEを数本買ってきたところでしたので、飲みながらお互いのトリップ話で盛り上がりました。
彼は名古屋から1人サーフトリップに来たそうで、かなり旅慣れた感じでした。
残念ながら今日が彼のトリップ最終日で、このあと深夜1時にホテルを出て日本に向かうそうです
When I got back my hotel, there was another guest from Japan. We talked a lot about each surf trip tips with drinking a booze. He also came here alone, seemed to be a real surfer.
It was lucky I got back with a few bottles of beer “RED HORSE”.
This was his last day here in Philippines, and he would leave for the airport at 1am.
